Basic Information About the Mediterranean Basin

The Mediterranean Basin is located at the crossroads of Asia, Europe and Africa. It includes 24 countries over 3 continents. Its dimensions are 3800 km between Lebanon and Portugal and 1000 km between Italy, Morocco and Libya. It also includes the islands on The Mediterranean Sea and the Micronesia Islands.

It contains one of the most diverse grouping of habitats found on Earth. It includes Mountain Range's that go up to 4800 m, Pine Forests and Coastline Habitat's.

The climate is usually hot and dry summers, paired with wet and cold winters. The climate differs depending on what part of the region you are in. It's typically harsher in the Northern areas than it is in the Southern.
